For Linux there is a large number of commands with which you can control the system and perform certain operations.

File Search

| find | Search files by date, size, change, name and patterns |
| grep | Search text within a file or output |
| locate | Fast search of files by means of the locatedb database |
| whereis | Search of programs in predefined directories |
| which | Locates a program which is located in the PATH |
File and directory commands

| ls | Lists all directories (show content of a directory) |
| cd | With the command cd you change the directory |
| cp | Copy a file or directory |
| mv | Move or rename a file |
| chmod | Change access rights of a file or directory |
| chown | Use this command to change the owner and group of a file or directory |
| diff | The diff command allows you to compare the contents of two files line by line |
| df | Displays the free space of all mounted drives |
| du | Displays the memory consumption of a directory |
